Bluehost has launched Bluehost Private Cloud, a fully managed hosting service for businesses that have outgrown VPS, VDS or dedicated hosting. The service was announced in a company blog post published Oct. 27 and updated Oct. 29.
Managed operations, not self-service cloud
The offer is aimed at growing SMBs with small IT teams, including businesses running mission-critical websites, applications, databases and AI agents.
Private Cloud is not sold as a self-serve console. Bluehost’s help documentation says each environment is planned with a solutions engineer before setup. The product page says Bluehost handles infrastructure management and onboarding for supported workloads. Customers remain responsible for application code, application security and data decisions unless their agreement says otherwise.
For operators, the practical tradeoff is control versus operational burden. Teams that want root access and direct server administration may be better served by self-managed VPS or VDS. Teams that need high availability, private networking and managed recovery may find Private Cloud closer to a managed infrastructure service than a traditional hosting plan.
What Bluehost says is included
Bluehost says each Private Cloud environment is scoped around the customer’s workload and infrastructure requirements. The company lists dedicated compute and storage, plus private virtual networking, as part of the service.
- Performance and scaling: isolated compute, block storage and object storage for application workloads.
- Availability and recovery: multi-node architecture, automated backups, recovery procedures and availability commitments tied to the agreed configuration.
- Security controls: web application firewall protection, DDoS protection, encryption on supported systems, secure access controls and audit logging.
- Managed support: infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, operations support, solutions engineering and assisted migration for supported workloads.
- Predictable agreed pricing: custom quoting, no overage charges within the agreed allocation, and change orders before upgrades.
The company also says capabilities and service commitments depend on the agreed configuration and customer agreement, so buyers still need to review the SLA, recovery objectives and access model before signing.
Built on OCI, but managed by Bluehost
Bluehost says Private Cloud uses Oracle Cloud Infrastructure hardware, but the service is sold and operated by Bluehost. Oracle says its public cloud services are available from more than 50 public cloud regions across 28 countries. Bluehost’s product page says Oracle endorsement or service support is not implied.
Bluehost also says the service is not built on VMware. Its comparison help page says software running on standard Linux or Windows virtual machines can generally be migrated, but a solutions engineer reviews each workload during discovery.
Pricing is custom, not plan-based
Unlike shared hosting, VPS or VDS packages with standard plan tiers, Private Cloud uses custom quoting. Bluehost says each environment is delivered as one agreed price, with no variable fees or add-ons, and that allocation increases are priced through a change order before an upgrade.
This reduces the surprise-bill concern associated with usage-based public cloud, but it also means pricing cannot be compared from a public plan table. Buyers will need to disclose workload details, availability needs and security requirements before receiving a quote.
Where it fits in Bluehost’s hosting lineup
Bluehost documentation places Private Cloud above web hosting, Managed WordPress, VPS, VDS and Dedicated Server products. A comparison page describes VPS and VDS as single-server, self-managed options, while Private Cloud is positioned as a single-tenant, multi-node cluster with managed operational support and a defined support contact.
That makes the launch less about replacing entry-level hosting and more about giving existing Bluehost customers a higher infrastructure tier before they move to a hyperscaler or a larger managed services provider.
Part of Bluehost’s wider OCI push
The launch follows Bluehost’s broader move toward Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Newfold Digital, Bluehost’s parent company, said in November 2025 that nearly a million Bluehost customers had already migrated to OCI and that the migration of all Bluehost customers was on track for completion in 2026.
Newfold also said at the time that the OCI move was intended to support cloud and AI capabilities for SMB, ISV and MSP customers. Bluehost’s Private Cloud announcement fits that direction by naming AI agents alongside applications, databases and high-performance websites as supported use cases.
What to watch next
The main unanswered questions are commercial rather than technical. Bluehost has published the service model, general architecture and included categories, but public plan pricing, standard SLA tiers and detailed configuration examples were not visible in the reviewed materials.
